Best answer: The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 comes rocking up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800U processor, and it's a powerful CPU on paper, effectively competing against and sometimes outright beating an equivalent Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU.
Latest and great AMD Ryzen for notebooks
AMD scored big with the launch of Ryzen and continues to do well against Intel, helped on by the competition struggling to get a 10nm process perfected for newer Intel processors. Still, the release of Ryzen 3000 mobile CPUs didn't go down so well. They just weren't that good, not when compared to Intel CPUs.
That's why AMD went back to the drawing board and quickly came up with the Ryzen 4000 generation of mobile processors, based on the same Zen 2 architecture as desktop-class Ryzen processors. The flagship Ryzen 7 4800U is available as an optional upgrade for the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7, but just how good is it?
On paper, it's excellent. You're looking at an 8-core processor with 16 threads, which is an amazing feat of engineering for a laptop platform. A base clock speed of 4.2GHz is joined by 12MB of cache, eight graphics cores clocked at 1750MHz, and a TDP of just 15W. The 4800U is comparable to an Intel Core i7-1065G7, but beats in a vast number of tests, making this one solid processor.
Even if you go with one of the lesser powerful 4000 series AMD Ryzen processors, you shouldn't be missing out on much compared to the current Intel camp. AMD even managed to land its CPUs on our best Lenovo laptop list.
