MLB The Show 21 comes to Xbox and PlayStation on April 20

  • The annual MLB The Show games have historically been PlayStation-exclusive.
  • In December 2019, MLB announced a new deal that would see the franchise extend to other platforms.
  • MLB The Show 21 has been officially announced and is coming to Xbox as well as PlayStation on April 20.

We've known since that the historically PlayStation-exclusive MLB franchise was going multiplatform, per an extension of the MLB deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment that was announced back in December 2019. Now, the next entry in the yearly baseball franchise has been revealed, with Fernando Tatis Jr. as cover star.

MLB The Show 21 is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. Developed by Sony San Diego, a part of Sony Worldwide Studios, this is the first game under the PlayStation Studios branding to be published on a non-PlayStation platform. It supports full cross-platform play and cross-progression; you'll be able to play with your friends no matter their platform choice and if buy the game for different consoles, all your progress carries over with no issue.

It's worth noting that there's no upgrade path, so if you buy the game on PS4 or Xbox One, you can't upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version. MLB The Show 21 is set to be released on April 20, 2021.
