The latest Outriders patch should fix the annoying inventory wipe bug

One of the worst Outriders bugs is on the way out.

What you need to know

  • The Outriders team at People Can Fly has been working tirelessly to fix the numerous bugs plaguing Outriders.
  • One of the more serious issues has been an inventory wipe bug that has caused players to lose all their progress.
  • Today, Outriders is releasing a new patch update for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC that should fix the bug once and for all.
  • This patch update only stops new occurrences of the bug, and an inventory restoration for affected players should come later.

Today could be a momentous day for Outriders. Since launch, Outriders players have had to suffer through a major Outriders inventory wipe bug that has caused players to lose dozens or hundreds of hours of progress in a single moment. Today, the Outriders team at People Can Fly is releasing a new Outriders patch update that should hopefully resolve the inventory wipe issue once and for all.

The new patch update is rolling out to Outriders on all console and PC platforms. It includes a new three-step inventory safeguarding protocol which should prevent any more inventories from being wiped moving forward. Unfortunately, this will not help players who have already been affected by the bug. The Outriders team is reportedly still working on a mass inventory restoration that will restore the large majority of lost gear and items and on fixing the "Couldn't connect to server" issue hitting players affected by an inventory wipe.

It's also worth mentioning that this patch update does include a known issue. Some players may encounter multiplayer connectivity issues followed by their inventory items becoming invisible. This is a temporary issue, and a game restart should fix it (a future patch will resolve the issue altogether).

If you want to avoid getting hit with the inventory wipe flaw, be sure to download this patch update as soon as possible. If you were already affected by the inventory wipe bug, you'll have to wait a little bit longer for Outriders' inventory restoration process.

It's unfortunate that this egregious bug began affecting players in the first place. Still, the Outriders team has been open about communication and has actively worked to fix this issue and many others in Outriders. Despite its flaws, our own Jez Corden has been enjoying what Outriders offers.

Outriders is currently available for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. You can also play Outriders on Stadia, but that version is woefully out-of-date. Finally, Outriders is available for Xbox players through Xbox Game Pass, making it one of the best games on Xbox Game Pass for fans of the looter shooter genre.
