A mobile game from one of Microsoft's gaming franchises could be on the way.
What you need to know
- Xbox Game Studios will work with TiMi to make new game experiences.
- TiMi makes popular mobile games, including Call of Duty Mobile, Honor of Kings, and Pokémon UNITE.
- The companies did not confirm details of any future games, but the partnership could result in mobile games based on Microsoft's popular titles.
Microsoft's Xbox Game Studios and Tencent's TiMi announced a strategic partnership today to create new game experiences. The announcement lacks any concrete details about new games but could be great news for mobile gamers who love Microsoft's franchises. More details about the partnership between TiMi and Xbox Game Studios were promised to arrive this year.
TiMi developed several popular mobile games, including Call of Duty: Mobile, Honor of Kings, and CrossFire: Legends. It also is working on the upcoming Pokémon UNITE. While the announcement did not mention any specific titles, it seems likely that it will result in some games based on Microsoft's popular franchises. For example we could possibly see mobile Gears or Halo games.
"Today, Tencent Tianmei Studio Group announced that it has formally formed an in-depth strategic partnership with Xbox Game Studios," reads the announcement (via Wccftech). "The two parties will combine their respective experiences and advantages to carry out in-depth cooperation."
The announcement goes on to say:
Through this strategic cooperation, TiMi Studio Group will carry out multi-dimensional and in-depth cooperation and communication with Xbox Game Studios, jointly create excellent game content and bring brand-new game sensory experience to players.
People can already play many of the best Xbox games on mobile devices through Xbox Game Pass, but those experiences are through game streaming. Presumably, any games made from the partnership between TiMi and Xbox Game Studios would be native mobile games, though that's only speculation.
