It's that time again.
Hello friends. It's that time again, Amazon Prime Day! When tons of tech and other goodies enjoy steep discounts for a couple of days. Rather than spam you with deals on toilet rolls and mattresses, we're curating deals for items you may actually want, as pertains to tech, PC, and Xbox. Here's a deal I wish I'd waited to take advantage of, rather than buying outright earlier. It's certainly one of the best Xbox Prime Day deals I've seen so far.
Amazon's excellent Echo speaker lineup is currently enjoying steep discounts of anywhere up to 50% off, and they work with all Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S consoles, making them a pretty sweet companion device.

Add voice commands
Using an Amazon Echo speaker, you can send a wealth of voice controls to your Xbox console, saving you from having to reach for a controller.
The Amazon Echo Dot costs just $25 for Prime Day, making it a steal. With an Amazon Echo and a connected Xbox, you can do things like control media playback, install games, play Spotify, control your TV using HDMI-CEC, launch apps and games. With recent updates, you can even tell Alexa to install games from Xbox Game Pass you might have read about, even if your console is off.
Setting up an Alexa speaker with your Xbox is pretty straight forward, and just a case of downloading the Xbox app within the connected Alexa app. The full list of Xbox commands for Alexa can be found here, and even beyond Xbox, Alexa speakers offer a wealth of smart home and app integration.
I use mine to do simple conversions, get weather updates, and get the time in other timezones (useful in this line of work). She makes up for the death of Kinect and Microsoft's own Cortana assistant, and with Prime Day, the Echo Dot is cheaper by 50%. If you grab one cheap and easy deal for your Xbox this Prime Day, it should probably be this one.
