Halo: MCC Season 7 arrives June 23, adds new Elite armor and energy swords

Spartans aren't the only ones getting new stuff in Halo: MCC.

What you need to know

  • 343 Industries has announced that Season 7 of Halo: MCC is arriving on June 23 for all players.
  • The new season focuses on humanity's Elite allies, and several new Elite armor sets, energy sword skins, and more will be available from its season pass.
  • The season's content will be available for free; like previous seasons, players will unlock new items by playing the game and accruing experience.

Following the reveal of Halo Infinite's multiplayer gameplay at the Xbox E3 2021 show, 343 Industries has also announced that Season 7 of Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC), dubbed "Elite," will go live for all players on June 23, 2021. The new season is primarily focused on humanity's shaky alliance with the Arbiter and the Elites, who helped humanity in Halo 3 and Fireteam Osiris in Halo 5.

In terms of what's on offer in Season 7: Elite, players can expect several new armor sets for Elites in multiplayer as well as multiple new skins for the energy sword. Previous seasons have also included player nameplate customizations and other types of weapon and vehicle skins, so we wouldn't be surprised to see Elite-themed nameplates or lots of skins for Covenant weapons and vehicles, either.

Two of the Elite armor sets coming in Season 7.

As with previous Halo: MCC seasons, the new content on offer will be completely free to unlock; all players have to do to obtain it is play the MCC and accrue experience by finishing matches and completing challenges. This will level up the (free) season pass and allow you to unlock the new items.

Overall, are you excited for Season 7 of the MCC? Let me know. I think it looks like a fantastic way to kill time while waiting for Halo Infinite and the Halo Infinite beta. The game also combines all of the pre-Xbox One Halo games into one and upgrades them with modern features like UHD 4K support, 120 FPS support, adjustable FOV, and more for just $40. This makes it one of the best Xbox One shooters available, and a game that you definitely shouldn't overlook. On PC, the game has been played by over 10 million people, making it one of the most popular sci-fi games on the platform right now.
