Starfield teaser trailer shown off for Xbox E3 2021, releases Nov 11, 2022

After years of mystery and intrigue, we now know what Starfield looks like.

The first new IP from Bethesda in decades has finally emerged from deep cryostasis, and it looks truly incredible.

Starfield debuted at E3 2021 today, giving us a glimpse at what this bold new world looks like. Microsoft unveiled the trailer at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on Sunday, providing the first glimpse at its planned setting. It follows a leak from The Washington Post only minutes before the show, providing the first details on the title. The trailer also confirms a planned November 11, 2022 release date.

Bethesda first teased Starfield back in mid-2018, unveiled as the latest project from Bethesda Game Studios, the studio behind projects like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. While details on the upcoming experience remain tight, Microsoft has shared further details on the role-playing project's premise, centered around a space exploration theme.

Starfield is targeting a late 2022 launch window and will join Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 in kickstarting Microsoft's big fight back on exclusive content. As we previously expected, Starfield is indeed exclusive to platforms with Xbox Game Pass, stretching across Android, the web, Xbox consoles, and PC, giving it a huge user base potential despite skipping PlayStation. Since Bethesda Softworks is now part of Microsoft, you can expect this game to launch straight into Xbox Game Pass on day one as well. Starfield will use a new Creation engine, too.

While Starfield looks incredible from its trailer, we won't know for sure if it will live up to the hype until we get our hands on it next year. But judging from the way it looks today, I'm confident it could end up being regarded as one of the best Xbox games of its time.
