If you were thinking Synapse took care of it, you're wrong.
Razer makes some of the best keyboards, mice, headsets, and much more, and in most cases, the companion application is all you need to use. While the requirement to use Razer Synapse 3 has been gradually reducing, it's still a useful tool to have on your PC.
But there's one thing that Synapse does not do, and that's update the firmware on your Razer gear. Firmware updates are important, especially if there are issues to address, such as a recent double-press problem on the BlackWidow V3 Pro. But to update the firmware you'll have to download something else specific to your device.
How to update the firmware on your Razer hardware
The Razer support site is the place to go with a dedicated page for firmware updates. It makes it really straightforward to find what you're looking for, since this page houses only firmware, and every release from 2018 onwards currently lives there.
The page is broken down into sections, so you have keyboards, mice, headsets and so on, so all you need to do is expand the right section and look for your device. If you don't see your device listed, that means you don't have a firmware update at all so you can end the process right there.
If you do see your device, you'll then see a link to download the firmware updater. This is a specific executable for each device, and each download page comes with specific instructions to install.
Essentially all you have to do is download the file, run it, and then follow the instructions on screen to correctly update your firmware.
Multiple devices on one wireless dongle
Razer recently introduced support for running multiple devices on one of its HyperSpeed wireless dongles, and before you can do that you'll need to update to the latest firmware. For example, the BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed is supported out of the box, but to combine it with a DeathAdder V2 Pro you will have to update the mouse.
Once you update the mouse using the relevant firmware updater, you will then be able to link the two devices through Razer Synapse 3. Synapse will also inform you ahead of time if you need to update your hardware to link them together like this.

Razer's newest and best keyboard is also the only compact keyboard any keen gamer will ever need.
