The Witcher 3 is getting Netflix-inspired DLC later this year

Just what will be added?

What you need to know

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt first launched in 2015, with two major expansions and several DLC packs added later.
  • Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red confirmed an upgrade for The Witcher 3 is in development for the latest consoles and PC.
  • At WitcherCon, CD Projekt Red announced new items inspired by the Witcher Netflix series will be included in this upgrade.

One of the best Xbox games is getting even better. During the first ever WitcherCon on Friday, CD Projekt Red and the Netflix Witcher series crew teamed up to talk all things Witcher, including a neat announcement for fans of both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Netflix show. The previously-announced current generation upgrade of the game is getting some neat extras in the form of DLC items inspired by the Netflix series.

These will presumably take the form of swords and armor designed in the same fashion as Geralt's gear in the show but we'll have to wait for more info.

This upgrade is currently scheduled to arrive later this year on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and PS5. While we don't have many details right now on exactly what this upgrade will entail, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the upgrade will bring faster loading times and ray-tracing. It'll also be completely free for anyone who already owns The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox One, PS4 or PC.

No exact release date has been announced for this upgrade, nor for the upgrade of Cyberpunk 2077, which is also currently scheduled to arrive later this year.
