Microsoft has announced a limited-edition variant of its Xbox Series X console and Xbox Elite Controller Series 2, tied to the upcoming release of Halo Infinite. The hardware duo debuted at Opening Night Live on Wednesday, with a Nov. 15, 2021 launch date, ahead of Halo Infinite's launch on Dec. 8. Preorders for the Xbox Series X console and Xbox Elite Controller go live later today, although official timings have yet to be announced.

The new Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Series X takes cues from the sci-fi shooter, including an interstellar finish inspired by its high-tech Forerunner architecture. The console and accompanying controller both boast metallic black-on-gray panels, with gold accents and a star-speckled detailing. The Xbox Series X limited-edition bundle includes a custom console and exclusive controller priced at $550 in the U.S.

The Xbox Elite Controller also mirrors the Master Chief's iconic design, translating his metallic green armor to the premium gamepad. The controller also retains signatures of the Xbox Elite Controller, including adjustable thumbsticks, rear paddles, and hair-trigger locks, all beneficial in competitive shooters. While compatible with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, it also works on PC and mobile via Bluetooth, and comes with an external carry case and charging cradle. The themed Xbox controller launches via the Microsoft Store priced at $200.

The custom Xbox Series X and Xbox Elite Controller both launch on Nov. 15, 2021, although with limited stock, given ongoing chip shortages hampering console availability. The console is the first custom version of Microsoft's new Xbox Series X, while Halo Infinite is only the second Microsoft franchise blessed with a custom Xbox Elite Controller, following up on the previous Gears of War 4 variant in 2016.

The Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Series X and Xbox Elite Controller are available for preorder later today via the Microsoft Store. Microsoft is yet to announce timings around when preorders will go live.
