Halo Infinite's bots aren't actually teabagging, per 343 Industries

According to the developers, the bots aren't actually engaging in this infamous behavior.

What you need to know

  • During the recent Halo Infinite technical preview, players faced off against bots, which are a new feature in Halo Infinite.
  • Players saw varied behavior from the bots, including what appeared to be teabagging.
  • According to 343 Industries, this is a bug and not intended behavior.

Halo Infinite is set to arrive later this year, bringing a long list of new features to the multiplayer suite, such as bots. During the recent Halo Infinite technical preview, many players saw different behaviors from the bots, including the infamous "teabagging." Speaking with Eurogamer, developer 343 Industries says that while it may have looked that way, it was actually a movement-based bug.

"An example of what could look like teabagging is a bug with bot traversal that was in the technical preview build," 343 said. "It caused bots to fail to successfully jump and clamber on the edge of stairs or ramps. A bot's feet would leave the ground very briefly, then play a landing animation when they failed the jump, and they'd get stuck in an animation loop that could look like crouching rapidly. If that happened to be observed shortly after a kill, or near a player's body, it can definitely feel like an intentional behaviour. In reality, the bot was just struggling to go up the stairs."

Halo Infinite is currently scheduled to be available sometime in Holiday 2020 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC. The multiplayer will be free-to-play, with 120 FPS support on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

We're keeping track of everything players need to know about Halo Infinite's multiplayer, including the various maps that'll be available and the vehicles players can use on said maps.
