Halo Infinite players face blue screen following beta launch

A blank blue screen? You're not alone.

What you need to know

  • Halo Infinite multiplayer has surprise launched, with a beta that includes the full maps and modes.
  • Many players are encountering a blue screen error when trying to launch the game.
  • This error should be resolved later as various servers come online.

Halo Infinite multiplayer surprise launched as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Xbox. As players rush to download the multiplayer, many are reporting an issue of just seeing a blank blue screen when trying to boot the game. If you're one of the players running into this issue, try rebooting your console. If it still doesn't boot up, hang on. Due to the nature of this surprise launch, the multiplayer servers are still coming online in various regions.

Microsoft is aware of the issue, per Halo support. From time to time, you should check to see if an update is available, as this update is still rolling out and should fix the blue screen error. Despite being framed as a beta, this drop of Halo Infinite's multiplayer portion is content complete. All the weapons are in, the core modes are available and the full launch list of Halo Infinite maps is included.

Halo Infinite's campaign is still slated to launch on Dec. 8, 2021. The game features the most wide-open Halo campaign yet and like the multiplayer, it's available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC. The campaign will also be available in Xbox Game Pass at launch.
